The 9 New Google AI Features

1. Help me Write — Gmail

Help me write by Google will help customers build off of the already-existent smart reply and smart compose feature that exist in emails.

This new feature allows users to type in a few words and use generative AI to create a full reply to an email in seconds.

You can also recreate or further elaborate within the email itself.

2. Immersive View — Google Maps

Google Maps Immersive View will enable smart detection to help people get a “birds-eye” view of a map, whether you are walking, driving, or riding a bike.

It will also help users understand how traffic and weather will change over time.

This will revolutionize GPS technology and allow users to have a more immersive experience according to the geography they are navigating.

3. Magic Eraser — Google Photos

Magic eraser will disrupt how users interact with Google Photos today.

It will recreate parts of photos to help bring out new vibrancy in photographs. You can also modify how other parts of the image look, including the sky for instance in this example.

This will revolutionize how photographers and creators interact with photo technology today, as well as how AI can benefit image editing for the future.

4. The Transformation of Bard

Bard has now learned 20+ programming languages with the ability to generate code, debug code, explain code, format code, and cite code.

It is safe to say that ChatGPT has found its new competitor in Bard when it comes to helping engineers code more efficiently.

Google is also enabling code to be exported into Colab and Replit. We are just getting started here with the integrations that Google’s AI tools will have. Developers will now be able to efficiently transfer code over to Colab and Replit, as well as reduce their time to ship.

Dark mode will also be a new feature of Bard!

Google’s ultimate feature for Bard will be the integrations that Bard offers. Google’s partnerships span several industries, and as seen below, there will be multiple areas of innovation that Bard will collectively build in alongside other startups and tech companies.

5. AI for Google Sheets

Google Sheets AI will enable users to automatically organize and track sheets through the help of their new AI software.

Sheets will use a Google-trained model to generate an input for the spreadsheet, and customers can choose to input the generated data and formatting into an existing sheet.

The example below perfectly generated a table for a client and pet roster for a dog walking business with rates for each row.

6. Integrated AI for Google Search

Google is launching a new integrated search results page that contains AI-generated helper language whenever a search is made.

The key here is the “AI-powered Snapshot” that Google provides.

There are specific follow-up commands that are made as a result that you can choose as well when you receive a Generative AI response. When follow-up commands are selected, you can enter a new conversational mode.

This new feature allows users to take full advantage of Generative AI responses while also being able to see regular search results as well.

7. Enabling Businesses to Build Generative AI Applications — Vertex AI

Google’s new Vertex AI is allowing businesses to build Generative AI applications more efficiently using this new AI platform.

Vertex AI is Google Cloud’s bet to bring AI to B2B.

Vertex AI has a competitive advantage according to Google: it enables large scale training workloads to be 80% faster and 50% cheaper compared to other alternatives.

8. AI-First Notebook — Project Tailwind

Project Tailwind started out as a project by five engineers at Google within a few weeks. It is considered an “AI-first notebook.”

The AI model allows you to choose files from Google Drive and allows you to have a conversation with those files, as seen further below.

This will revolutionize how people interact with notes, analyses, and any other documents/files that they have in Google Drive. It will help users efficiently analyze and gain expertise in the information presented.

Project Tailwind will also provide key topics, suggested questions, create quizzes, generate new ideas, provide summaries, and beyond.

9. Google’s Responsible AI

The most exciting part about Google’s Responsible AI initiative is that it will give you details about AI-generated content, such as images.

It will provide information into when an image first appeared, similar images, metadata, and markup.

The distinction will be made between AI-generated images and non-AI generated images. This will be game-changing for creators.
